Heat, time and pressure work together

A hotter press is not automatically a better press. The exact transfer and blank decide the correct recipe.

Heat

Use the temperature specified by the vinyl, transfer or blank maker. Too little can leave adhesive incomplete; too much can scorch fabric or damage a coating.

Time

Dwell time changes with the material. A transfer that peels hot may use a different cycle from one that must cool before the carrier is removed.

Pressure

Set pressure before a batch and keep seams, collars, zippers and buttons from lifting one side of the design away from the platen.

Test

Press an unfamiliar blank before starting a full order. A test piece costs less than repeating an entire batch.

One press, several transfer workflows

The machine supplies controlled heat and pressure. Ink, adhesive, coating and fabric chemistry determine what will actually transfer.

HTV and ready-to-press transfers

Cut heat transfer vinyl can be applied to compatible cotton, polyester and blends. Outsourced DTF or screen-print transfers let you make garments without owning a printer. Follow the supplier's temperature, pressure, time and peel instructions.

Pre-press when allowed

A short pre-press can flatten wrinkles and reduce moisture before placement.

Match the peel method

Hot, warm and cold-peel films are not interchangeable instructions.

Sublimation needs the right blank

Traditional sublimation is intended mainly for polyester fabric and hard goods with a compatible polymer coating. A plain cotton shirt or untreated ceramic mug does not become sublimation-ready because it fits the press.

A heat press is not a printer.

The press handles application. Artwork can come from a vinyl cutter, a transfer supplier or a suitable sublimation printing system. Starting with outsourced transfers is a practical way to learn pressing before adding printing equipment.

Swing the heat away before alignment

The 360-degree upper assembly moves away from the loading area. The pull-out lower table gives direct access while you flatten the blank and position the transfer.

  • Leave side and rear clearance for the full swing path.
  • Use a sturdy, level and heat-resistant work surface.
  • Unplug the machine and let attachments cool before changing them.
  • Keep hands away from heated surfaces even when the platen is open.

What the attachments are built to press

Shape matters. Curved blanks need an attachment that can maintain contact around the transfer area.

Flat platen

T-shirts, sweatshirts, totes, pillow covers, mouse pads and compatible flat hard goods that fit the usable pressing area.

Mug heaters

Compatible cylindrical drinkware. Capacity alone does not guarantee fit, so compare the blank diameter and shape with the heater.

Cap attachment

The curved 5.5 x 3 inch surface follows the printable front panel more closely than a flat shirt platen.

Plate heaters

Dedicated 5 inch and 6 inch heaters for compatible plates made for the intended transfer process.

A small temperature drop can be normal

A room-temperature garment or blank absorbs heat when it touches the platen. The controller then reheats toward the selected value. If results vary between presses, check the actual platen temperature, pressure, recovery time and material instructions before assuming the display is faulty.

My last one is a 12x10 inch press and is still working fine. Need to upgrade to a larger size so I bought this one after some research. This heat press machine comes with a different control box that has a lot of advanced features. You can program three modes into the control box with specific set temperature and time you want. Instead of wasting time changing set temperature and time for different applications, you can quickly switch between the three different modes by pressing the mode button. Another feature that I really like is that the control can record the times of heat transferring, which would be very helpful in a busy work. I was hesitant to buy this machine when see the review about the scratches on this machine, but finally pulled the trigger. Mine is working fine and totally brand new. I noticed that there is a protective film on the mug attachment, and seems the scratches mentioned in the other review is on the film not really the attachment. I don’t think that will be an issue, since the film needs to be removed anyway, as suggested on the manual. By the way, if anyone gets confused about how to use the machine, you can directly contact the seller. The seller support Catherine is really nice and helpful. During the first time of using this machine, every time after pressing down the heating plate, I found that the temperature would drop. I was concerned and asked Catherine for help. She is professional and helped me out with the issue. Turns out, the cold T shirt would always take away some heat causing an initial temperature drop, but the control will bring the heat up once it detects the temperature drop in a few seconds. I tested it and it was indeed the case. She also suggested to pre-heat the t shirt for a few seconds before the real transfer, to remove the wrinkles and also minimize the initial temperature drop during the transferring. So far, this machine works well, highly recommended!!!

2. Which HORGELU heat press should I choose?

3. What can a HORGELU 5-in-1 heat press make?

The 8-in-1 makes more sense when drinkware will be a regular part of production. It is not automatically necessary for a shop focused primarily on shirts.

5. Is a HORGELU heat press suitable for beginners?

7. Do I need a printer to use a HORGELU heat press?

No. A heat press and a printer perform different jobs. Ready-to-press DTF transfers, screen-print transfers and other preprinted graphics can be purchased from a transfer supplier and applied with the press. HTV can be cut with a compatible vinyl cutter. A printer is required only when producing certain transfers in-house. Traditional sublimation, for example, requires a suitable printer, sublimation ink and sublimation transfer paper in addition to compatible blanks.

8. Can a HORGELU heat press be used for sublimation?

Yes, but the material being pressed must be suitable for sublimation. Traditional sublimation works best on polyester fabrics and on hard goods manufactured with a compatible polymer coating. Ordinary cotton shirts and untreated ceramic mugs do not become sublimation-compatible simply because they are placed in a heat press. The press supplies heat and pressure. Successful sublimation also depends on the correct ink, transfer paper and substrate.

9. Can HORGELU heat presses apply heat transfer vinyl?

Yes. The flat platen can apply compatible heat transfer vinyl to shirts, bags and other suitable fabrics. Always follow the HTV manufacturer's instructions for temperature, press time, pressure and peeling. Different films can require significantly different settings. Fabric composition also matters, particularly with heat-sensitive polyester and specialty synthetic materials.

10. What temperature should I use with a HORGELU heat press?

There is no single correct temperature for every project. The required setting comes from the transfer material and blank manufacturer. Standard HTV might press around 300°F, while many sublimation applications operate closer to 400°F. Other materials can fall outside those examples. Using a universal "T-shirt temperature" or "mug temperature" can damage the blank or produce a weak transfer. Start with the instructions for the exact material being used, then test before running a large batch.

11. Why does the displayed temperature drop after I start pressing?

A small drop can occur when a room-temperature shirt, mug or other blank contacts the heated surface. The colder material absorbs heat from the platen, and the machine then heats back toward the selected temperature. A brief change does not automatically indicate a fault. If transfer quality becomes inconsistent, check actual platen temperature, pressure and recovery time instead of judging the machine only by moment-to-moment changes on the display.

12. What is the white sheet included with the heat press?

The white sheet is a Teflon protective cover sheet. It can be placed over suitable transfers during pressing to help protect the heating platen and the item underneath from adhesive or transfer residue. It is part of the working setup, not packaging material. Some transfer manufacturers specify parchment paper, release paper or another protective layer instead. Follow the instructions supplied with the specific transfer whenever they differ.

13. Why does HORGELU use a swing-away design?

The swing-away upper platen moves the hot heating surface away from the loading area. That gives more direct access when positioning a garment or aligning a transfer and reduces the need to work immediately underneath a heated platen. The pull-out lower table on supported models provides additional access to the blank. The design requires enough clear space around the machine for the upper assembly to rotate safely.

14. Can a 110V HORGELU heat press be used in a 220V or 240V country?

Not directly. Current HORGELU machines in this range are designed for 110V power. A simple travel plug only changes the connector shape and does not convert voltage. For use on a 220V or 240V electrical supply, HORGELU specifies a suitable step-down voltage converter with sufficient wattage capacity. Connecting a 110V machine directly to higher-voltage mains can damage the press and create an electrical hazard.

15. What does HORGELU focus on when designing its heat presses?

HORGELU focuses on making multi-purpose heat pressing practical without requiring separate equipment for every common product type. The machines pair digital time and temperature controls with manually adjustable pressure and interchangeable attachments.
